Athletic Trainer
Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Performance Director, this position provides prevention and physical assessments, work with the physical therapist in all aspects of treatment/reconditioning/prevention as set forth by the NATA Board of Certification. Incumbent must exercise independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize the workload required to complete the work assigned. Incumbent will be responsible for the productivity of any employees placed under their supervision. Incumbent will recommend changes in office practices and procedures as necessitated by business needs.
Job Specifications:
- Principle Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the duties outlined in the Position Summary above, the following duties are the responsibility and subject to over-site by the CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER. Travel: Required for Job Demands as needed upon notice with mileage reimbursement from central office.
- Demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing and fitting of support or athletic equipment.
- Perform prevention assessment.
- Perform treatment and reconditioning.
- Perform early evaluation, triage, CPR/First Aid and AED services.
- Will attend sporting events, practices, and related events as deemed necessary by the Clinic Manager, Performance Director, and Athletic Director.
- Carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations, by the patient’s physician.
- Provide referrals to clients, student athletes, and families to specific physicians and other IRG and allied health professionals including, but not limited to: physical therapy, sports nutrition, sports performance, and massage therapy.
- Assist with staff and physician liaisons, including the development and implementation of policies in relation to the care of our student athletes.
- Compile injury and treatment statistics for program for assigned sports in database (Sportsware).
- Assist in physical therapy treatments as deemed necessary by the physical therapist, clinic manager.
- Manage budgets & supplies at contracted sites.
- Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning, nutrition, wellness, physical therapy, and team physicians to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition, preventative programs and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs where applicable.
- Facilitate physicals at contracted sites in conjunction with the clinical director for the attached PT clinic.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance at contracted sites.
- Maintain Athletic Training Certification and State Licensure by attending educational courses, seminars, home study courses approved by the National Athletic Training Association.
- Act as an IRG Brand Ambassador in all community related events.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science or related field with concentration in athletic training. In process and/or eligible for becoming certified/licensed in Washington State.
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Experience: One year minimum as a certified athletic trainer, setting preferred at a high school or college level. Entry level graduates with a NATABOC certification will be considered and encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work with electronic medical record keeping systems and other computer databases. (i.e: Sportsware).
- Ability to work under pressure, has time management skills, and can multitask.
- Demonstrate they are an active, collaborative team member.
- Ability to work weekends, nights, and nontraditional work hours.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization in exercise science or related field with concentration in athletic training.
- In process and/or eligible for becoming certified/licensed in Washington State.
- Experience: One or two years in Athletic Training setting preferred at the college level.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of and the ability to work with electronic medical record keeping systems and other computer databases.
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Interest in working toward attaining or has obtained a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA CSCS).
- Interest in working toward attaining or has obtained a Performance Enhancement Specialist certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM PES
- Interest in working toward attaining or has obtained a certification of Applied Functional Science (CAFS) with the Gary Gray Institute.
- Interest in working toward attaining or has obtained a certification of Functional Movement Screen Level 1 (FMS) with Functional Movement Systems.

- Mill Creek - Administration Office to allocate location contracts throughout the Puget Sound area.
